Source for older components?

Hey mate. Not sure where in the world you are but here Australia when I'm hunting down older or used computer hardware my first stop is the local computer and electronic swap meets , where you can get hold of even older hardware than you're chasing. Otherwise great sources are Ebay , Gumtree and other online sales like Craigslist. On Ebay you'll often find exactly the model you're hunting for ...mostly used but some new 'unused' gear.
Best of luck on your hunt mate :D

Fellows (and ladies), are there any recommended resources for buying slightly older motherboards? Specifically, I'm looking for H77 or Z77 boards for a mini-ITX build. Amazon has some but they're way over-priced.

Ideas?

but they're way over-priced

That's the problem, prices go up to levels higher than the original retail ones when the
boards first came out. The best time to buy is always just before and a few months
after the newer chipset models appear. So when right after the Haswell Z87 systems
came out that was the time to stock up on the Ivy Br. boards if you would have planned
to stay with an Ivy Bridge cpu. Since you didn't do that it will likely be better to go with
a Haswell refresh system right now as Skylake and the latest 100 series chipset
boards are due in September. There should be some very good deals and rebates.
