Hi all,

Thought it might be useful to share the modded 64-bit driver I found for the Audiophile 2496 card, which in my case enabled sleep on my Mountain Lion hack.

Haven't tried this out yet other than with desktop audio and Fidelia media player. Works like a charm and above all does not break sleep, which is why I had only been using this card in Windows thus far.

You can find the driver and source code here: https://github.com/TheSooth/Envy24

Let me know how it works for you!

Hey nice!

BUT....

Unfortunately it's only working in mono on my system..

have you done any further testing? I have balance control in system settings, but any mp3s being played, or my own music in Logic only comes out as a mono signal through both channels :(

Any tweaks I could do?

Interesting. Through Fidelia it for sure comes out in stereo but i will check other ways of playback as well--although i currently do not have Logic or other pro audio apps installed.

[edit:] Bummer, it seems indeed playback is mono only. I'll see if i can find out more from the developer.

[edit2:] The developer TheSooth replies digital outputs should work normally, which is something I cannot test. Proper output for the RCA connectors is something which might be solved "much much much" later.

Damn. Yeah the RCA outputs are what I use too. Let me know if you get any further with it. I'll have a look around too.

Hey!

There was nothing listed in the GitHub? is this still available?

Hi all, first post here at tonymacx.
I was in the same situation as you guys yesterday so I took the liberty to modify the Envy24 driver found at audio-evolution.com. I own an Audiophile 2496 myself so I was stuck with kernel panic after wake. What I've fixed in the kext is:

1. Sleep/wake shuts down and inits the driver
2. Sound in and out in stereo with analog inputs

I sent an email to the author of the driver today and apparently he has stopped developing it and had no objections to me sharing my mod.
I hope it's okay to attach it here at the forum, please tell me if it's not.

OS 10.8.x Mountain Lion only.
Overwrite existing in /System/Library/Extensions after backing up the old one. Reboot.

Huge disclaimer though; the same warnings still apply as with the older versions and the fixes above (although working for me) may cause all kinds of trouble. So use at your own risk. And I have only tried it with my Delta Audiophile 2496.

hi,
i've just installed the kext modded by forgel for my m-audio delta 66 under 10.8.2 and is working very well.
two questions: is there a way to "force" the system to put the audio input/output on 16bit instead of 24bit (default) without going every time in midi configuration?
did you notice sometimes some little crackles/glitches during audio playback?

thank you

hi,

just got a 2496 card and would love to try your modded kext, but i do not have the original kext to be over written. the link at the beginning of the thread is dead. if possible please supply original envy kext that is to be overwritten

thanks

Hi,

did you also try the M-Audio card in Logic or Cubase as a full audio interface with midi? I got the same card and was searching for a solution on my Hackintosh. I also own an Apogee DUET, but then i need to install a firewire card. If the kext fully works with th Audiophile 2496 it would be nice.

Cheers...
