Hi,
I swapped my GPU for a Gigabyte HD7970 - And all of a sudden now the onboard audio on my Rampage IV Black is intermittent. I can stream via airplay but it still is very intermittent. Headphones or speakers connected to onboard sound doesn't work at all. Please help!

Thanks for your response. After reinstalling the audio via Mutlibeast, the problem now is the same with airplay. With headphones/speakers however the files (on youtube, or any other website, or on my computer played via VLC/Quicktime player) does not move beyond 4 seconds. I am not sure if it is an audio issue or video.

With "virtual device" selected as audio output, the videos do move forward seemingly smoothly, but as soon as I select "internal speakers", the video goes back to start and doesn't play. It seems the video on youtube etc is reloading again and again.

Please help.

No specs, no help. Fix profile.
For the second time, Post #2 link, see Problem Reporting
A virtual audio device is not a diagnostic tool.

oh thanks so much. I shall gather all this information and post it shortly (right now at work). Sorry my bad, I didn't read the problem posting bit. :)

ok so here is the issue

1. Trouble with audio. I can stream via airplay to some compatible device, and there the sound is intermittent. However with headphones or speakers, the file does not run, but the file freezes after sometime - the time varies from file type and player. Youtube videos jam after 1-4 seconds, vlc player would stop after 1 second and so on. It's not the case that the player or website becomes non-responsive, but only the file it is playing sorta hangs. If I switch to "virtual audio device" for sound output (whatever this virtual device is), the file starts playing normally (or at least appears to be playing normally but I can't hear anything obviously).

2. I am running Mavericks 10.9.2, on a Rampage IV Black mobo, BIOS version 0507. My CPU is 4930k and I am running Gigabyte HD7970 OC.

3. I used the guide here at tonymacx86 to install (unibeast) OSX. Did a fresh install after I installed my GPU.

Kindly find attached some files.

any suggestions?

Same thing in all browsers, and all players. One thing that I noticed in youtube videos though is that after the first time when it runs for 4 seconds and freezes, it actually goes back to the start of the video as if I have refreshed the page - and then it reloads the video repeatedly. So I do see a teeny tiny glimpse of the red progress bar which indicates how much of the video has been played, but it goes back to the start repeatedly as if the video/webpage has been refreshed. The same pattern repeats for all browsers.

If I scroll to the the middle of the video somewhere, then it just stays frozen at that frame.

This is not an audio problem, it is a video problem. Audio is the result of video playing; no video, no audio. No idea what is really wrong.
