Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD Available Again Online for $19.99

In a surprise move, Apple has made Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard available again on Apple.com. They had removed the product entirely from the online store sometime earlier this year. With its return, Apple has dropped the price to $19.99, down from the original price in 2009 of $29.99. Good news.

Just a quick FYI,

These are Version 10.6.8
(EDIT: Correction.. After Physically verifying the disks I received, it is indeed 10.6.3. The "Genius" on the phone misinformed me.. see follow-up post)
It was still available from Apple if you called Apple and placed a phone order.
I Ordered 2 back on Sept 29th for the $19.99 price with free shipping plus tax.

The woman that took my order said it was still a hot seller and wishes they didn't take it off the webpage or out of the stores.
She had stated that many people with older macs cant find their install media that came with their systems.

Strange for them to be selling those discs -- they must have a warehouse full

I also noticed the Q & A on that web page where a guy asks if he can use the disc to install it on his Compaq Laptop. It's an old question but the answer is clear:
"No, the Apple OS X software is licensed to run only on Apple hardware, and will not run on other manufacturer's hardware (and even if you managed to get it to run, you'd be violating the user license)."

Should we all be worried ?

I just would not tell them.

Not that i dont believe you or want to come across as an but Can you Post a Pic of the Disc so it can be confirmed that it's indeed 10.6.8 and Not the last Retail version which was 10.6.3.

Amazon has it labelled as a 10.6.8 but then it says '' Snow Leopard Version 10.6.3 Upgradeable to 10.6.8 ''

The end user should always be given the choice what to do after he or she makes a PURCHASE of any kind of product.
"User License" ha....
What if one wanted to buy 10 of them and just smash them to pieces, is he violating the "user license".

At the end of the day This place is genius! Apple will never go after the individual user and no one here is putting a gun to anyones head forcing them to use free info to save money and enjoy a well priced product. $19.99.

I say we enjoy this for as long as it lasts because if they switch back to Apple produced CPUs there will be some time before anything like this is available.

Im going to buy a few copies of SL to have around especially if its 10.6.8!
