Hope this doesn't throw a wrench in things. From 9to5Mac:

"Sources within Apple are particularly enthusiastic about a new security system called Rootless, which is being described internally as a “huge,” kernel-level feature for both OS X and iOS. To prevent malware, increase the safety of extensions, and preserve the security of sensitive data, Rootless will prevent even administrative-level users from being able to access certain protected files on Apple devices. Sources say that Rootless will be a heavy blow to the jailbreak community on iOS, though it can supposedly be disabled on OS X."

In any case, glad to hear they're focusing on stability.

Sounds like a pretty big change. We'll have to see what changes are in there and what can be 'disabled in OS X' when the beta hits.

I know the NDA will prohibit us from discussing OS X 10.11 while it's under development, but will you at least be able to confirm/deny if you get it working?

Apologies to mods if this is not something I should be saying (feel free to edit me) but apparently you can add "Rootless=0" to start variables.

On MacRumors someone posted that in the dev forums they are saying it'll go away by the release version. On real macs there will be an option to disable it in the recovery partition.

We still have the "System Administrator" that is really root under disguise. Wonder when that will be wiped from OS X?
Anyways if such a thing does happen and my regular coreservices mods are affected, I guess that means I will have to be root :D

rootless=0 caused panic on my hack.
