Ok so lets talk about this new imac.

I already was thinking to my self.. no way any gpu fit into an imac can support that res screen.. Then I saw this.

I am unfortuanately biased about the whole thing.

My 2014 13" retina mbp runs slower than a netbook I bought in 2008. Now apple wants to try 5k on a 2 year old GPU...?

My iphone 6plus is running about as fast as my 4s it repalaced... so yeeeeaaaa......

Im getting really tired of crazy resolutions and crazy thin products.

I agree 4k is the future. But I dont agree with the hardware currently behind it... Sure it makes sense to go for 30hz but people doing serious video editing need better than that.

we all know gaming will be utterly impossible on this machine...

like whats the deal... who is this targeted to?

photographers only?

Sorry for the slight rantishness but I think apple is punishing early adopters.

Did I mention my brand new iphone 6 plus has tearing, stutters, and all kinds of horrible UI lags everywhere.

and my retina mbp can barely play youtube videos.. no joke my 2010 mba is much smoother and more responsive in every way.

Not going to lie I kind of wish apple would slow down a bit and pull out the polish.

All I can say is: "Isn't it great that we can choose our own hardware to run OS X on ?"

The newest Nvidia GTX 970, for a little over $320, can easily support a 5K monitor at 60 Hz.
Even up to 4- 2560 x 1440 monitors at one time !

Apparently, the R9 M290X in the Retina iMac is comparable to the AMD 7870 desktop GPU from what I've read.

Is it really that bad? Any other opinions of iPhone 6 / 6 Plus owner on this topic?

I personally would also appreciate a "smaller" resolution, in exchange for more "horsepower". In my opinion, the iMac should have never been slimed down like that. I mean, how many people really would need a thinner "AllInOne", which essentially is just a display with a computer built in, so 90% of the time you won't even notice how thick/thin it is.
