As part of Apple's continual commitment to Open Source, they've released the source code of the underpinnings of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, ie Darwin 10.10.0. This includes the xnu-2782.1.97 kernel.

If you're interested in the way things work, feel free to poke around, download all of the files, and build your own versions using Xcode.

Thanks Tony Mac - wow mind blown open source OS X 10.10!

IMO 10.10 has to be the finest OS ever made!! Apple made so many great updates - did not think mavericks could get any better.

Appreciate you pointing this out!

Does this mean simpler Hackintoshing Tony?

No it's something they've always done- they are required to release the Open Source portions of the OS. This particular update is interesting because it's the first time we've had a real look into the kernel source, caching, and compression scheme in Yosemite.

Ah, interesting. Thank you.

As someone who is new to the hackintosh community, it is great to know that there is a source to where I can get some more info. How much longer is the Darwin source up for?

I thought I read a long time back i think around the time of Tiger that apple killed the darwin source code release.
