In June, Intel announced and released it's next generation of Socket 1150 CPUs, codenamed Haswell. As part of Apple's commitment to Open Source, they make the kernel source available via opensource.apple.com. I've added support for these new CPUs to xnu-2050.24.15 (AKA the 12.4.0 Darwin kernel shipped in OS X 10.8.4) and tonymacx86 and I are happy to announce it's release.

HaswellHelper is a quick installer for MacMan's xnu-2050.24.15 kernel enhanced to allow Haswell CPUs to boot and run OS X 10.8.4 only. It will also delete GenericUSBXHCI.kext from /Extra/Extensions. You may use this on a UniBeast created USB drive to get installation support. The installer is now available at tonymacx86.com/downloads.

PLEASE NOTE: Haswell CPUs and chipsets are not currently supported natively by OS X. We can't recommend Haswell systems yet, as there is no official support. Hence, please don't view this as buying advice. We don't recommend using an enhanced kernel for the long-term. The vanilla kernel is a much more desirable solution for a stable system.

"Apple's commitment to Open Source?" New to me. This single post made me click the checkout button to get all the parts of my new haswell rig.

Amazing work sir...

Trying this out as we speak, wish me luck (i7 4770 on z87x ud5h)

Good luck.

I did boot into Mountain Lion.
I installed all my drivers + bootloader.
When i remove the USB it says boot error.
and when i go to the mountain lion drive it says something about CPU family.
And now its stuck at the apple logo

Thanks! Jumping up and down now really ;)

I'm getting everything installed and all. However, after installing the UserDSDT + NullCPUPowerManagement I won't be able to boot. Basically getting the incompatible CPU family error in a kernel panic. I get this when I boot from USB and choose the HD I've installed MacOS X on. (will post screenshot if I run into that error again).

re-installing now as we speak, gonna see if the NullCPUPowerManagement.kexts from the USB stick will help, as it boots from that without problems.

I did. Oddly enough I'm not getting any kernel panics anymore after installing UserDSDT + NullCPUPowerManagement. It's just a white screen. I get the same white screen when I boot the USB stick to install, but after 1 second or so it goes away and I see the installer.

After installing and copying the mech-kernel to the boot disk, it boots fine and all. It's just that as soon as I install the UserDSDT + NullCPUPowerManagement it comes up with the apple logo, then switches to a white screen and it stays on that. No HD activity at all at that point. I doublechecked my multibeast download just to be sure, but that one is the latest version.

I have a question though, because I don't know whether to give this a go or not. What happens when 10.8.5 comes out? Will this installation be updatable or will it be necessary to reinstall OSX in order to get the real Apple haswell compatible kernel.
