The original installation media for Mac OS X Snow Leopard was a 10.6 DVD. The DVD was only updated once to version 10.6.3. In order to provide more frequent updates to users, Apple is now slipstreaming the latest version of OS X directly into the download. Upon fresh installation, no updating is necessary!

If you purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store prior to September 19, 2012, you most likely have 10.8.0 or 10.8.1. To re-download Mountain Lion and update your App to 10.8.2, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Update. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.8.2 Install Mac OS X Mountain Lion App can be found in the Applications folder. You can then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.

If you don't see the Update button, follow this simple procedure.

1. Delete your existing copy of Install Mac OS X Mountain Lion.app from Applications folder.
2. Hold down the alt/option key on your keyboard, and click the App Store icon.
3. With alt/option key held, click on Purchased
4. With alt/option key held, click on OS X Mountain Lion
5. With alt/option key held, click on Install

If neither of the above processes work for you, try creating a new User account. You can delete it later.

1. Open System Preferences
2. Click on Accounts
3. Click Lock Icon
4. Click (+) to add a new User
5. Create a new Admin User
6. Log out, and log into new User
7. Proceed with steps above.

This is great. I was able to use this plus UniBeast to create an updated recovery USB drive. Nice to know that if I have to reinstall I'll be up and running again faster.

Will this process also work for the new 10.7.5? I do not have unlimited internet usage to experiment with as 4gb is alot to download where I am. I've tried searching and found no results yet so am asking here.

Yes, it should also work for Lion if you can manage to re-download it from your Purchased list.

It is not working out well. I had a very stable system. Installed 10.8.2. System crashed. Cannot get it to work. Audio does not work. I tried multibeast 5.02 for mountain lion.
My mobo is gigabyte Z68A D3H B3. Processor sandy bridge i3 2105 3.1 GHz.
If anyone has a screenshot of what I should install on multibeast it is greatly appreciated. I feel bad because I screwed up my stable system. Thanks

Could you please let me know about Chamelon and what are the files you installed on mutlibeast.

Wait, are you implying downloading the latest version and then reinstalling everything from scratch?

Has anyone have a problem with making a Unibeast boot USB. When I installed the update 10.8.2, it wouldn't boot anymore. It was stuck at the loading wheel and wouldn't boot to the desktop. I downloaded the 10.8.2 from apple and ran unibeast. Now the usb would boot, but not go the the "pick your language" and it just has a spinning beach ball. Unibeast worked with 10.8 but I can't find that any where. Has anyone else had this problem.. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have the same problem with similar motherboard, except when I use -x to got into safe mode I get to all white screen with cursor? Any advice? Left a perfectly good build-

Update from 10.8.2 literally killed my hackintosh. Can't boot unless using safe mode command. Did a quick fix by removing the OemSmbios.kext located /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ work awhile but my hackintosh is not as stable as before. Downloaded 10.8.2 from app store and made new OS X Mountain Lion USB Install Disk using Unibeast.

Installation went smooth, (i did not use any commands at all). Installed latest chameleon, multibeast (FakeSMC, FakeSMC Plugins ->Motherboard Plugins)and other necessary stuff for my system. Rebooted, and voila! It can't boot.

Reinstalled OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Unibeast, it also went smoothly (again without any commands). Installed saltest chameleon the again run multibeast but this time (FakeSMC/FakeSMC Plugins->Motherboard Plugins!!!!!!UNCHECKED!!!!!) and other necessary stuff for my system . Rebooted voila! Successful! Everything worked smoothly. No patches performed other than Chameleon & Multibeast. Graphics worked OOB, Dual Display worked OOB. Ran prime 95 for 11 hours, no crash or screen freeze. No

The only downside is you have to reinstall every software again. But for a rock solid 10.8.2, i think it's worth it. :)

Hope this can help to others with the same build.
